SCC speech instructor Zetocha nominated for state award
North Dakota native Bob Zetocha, a speech instructor at Southeast Community College in Nebraska, has been nominated for the Nebraska Community College Association’s Faculty Member Award.
Zetocha, son of Edward and Jean Zetocha, grew up on the family farm and graduated from North Sargent High School in Gwinner. Bob earned a bachelor’s degree in education from North Dakota State University in 1979.
He taught English and speech and coached football and basketball at Walhalla High School. He later earned a master’s degree in speech communication from NDSU in 1982. His master’s program concentrated on public speaking, public relations and leadership.
Bob has six brothers and one sister, and they all graduated from NDSU. He is married to Carolyn (Case) of Forman. She is a math instructor at Southeast. The couple has two daughters, Sarah and Hannah, and two sons, Micah and Noah.
Bob has 15 years experience in college and university admissions at Chadron State College, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Wayne State College in Nebraska. He had managed a private business in Columbus, Neb., for five years before becoming a faculty member at Southeast’s Lincoln Campus.
He is one of the faculty advisors of Campus Crusade for Christ at Southeast, and he also is a Money Map Coach trainer and is in training as a seminar instructor for Crown Financial Ministries. Bob is a member of North Pointe Community Church in Lincoln.
At SCC, Zetocha teaches public speaking, business and professional communication and a course in the fundamentals of human communication. Last year, he received SCC’s 2007-2008 LAMB Award, which stands for Lincoln-Area-Milford-Beatrice, SCC’s primary sites. He also was selected as the Lincoln Campus commencement speaker in March 2007.
