Bronco Track & Field Athletes of the Week

 

Anthony Finstad, Erik Heitkamp, and Veronica Munkeby were selected by their teammates as the Broncos track and field athletes of the week for their performances during the weeks of April 20 – 28.

Finstad qualified for state in the 3200 run with his personal best of 10:18.  Anthony was a state placewinner a season ago in the 3200 relay and this is the second straight year that Finny has qualified the 3200 race.

Anthony is a junior and the son of John and Lori Finstad of rural Lisbon.  

Finstad is also involved in cross country (two-time all state and a three-time all region performer), basketball player, and is an honor student.

Heitkamp is the son of Greg Heitkamp of Lisbon and Cheryl Heitkamp of Fargo.  Erik has improved leaps and bounds under the tutelage of Bronco jump coach Brad Bittner.

Heitkamp has personal bests in the triple jump and high jump of 40’9” and 5’10” and is in the top 10 in scoring on this year’s team.

Erik is a life guard at Sandager Park and also cleans Lisbon Smiles.  Heitkamp also is involved in Close–Up, cross country, band, choir, swing choir, FBLA, and student council.

Munkeby is a two-time state runner-up at the state meet in the high jump.  

Veronica is an all around athlete that has helped lead the Broncos to the last two state volleyball tournaments and has been named to the all-district and all-region teams in that sport twice.  She was also named to the all state tournament squad.

Munkeby is a two-time all district performer in girl’s basketball and also plays softball.

Veronica is the daughter of Dave and Bobbi Munkeby of rural Fort Ransom.

Veronica is a junior that also participates in FBLA student council, band, choir, swing choir, jazz band, and is an honor student.
