Dolores Ronning

Dolores M. Ronning, 78, of Lisbon, N.D., passed away Sunday, April 27 2008 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.

Dolores “Babe” Mary Roach was born on October 7, 1929, in Lisbon, N.D., the only daughter of Daniel (Dan) and Leona (Oestreicher) Roach.  She grew up in the Lisbon Ransom County area and attended school in Springer Township, St. Aloysius Catholic School, and Lisbon High School.  She graduated from St. Benedict’s School in Wild Rice, N.D., in 1947, and then attended St. Andrews School of Nursing in Bottineau, N.D.  

On October 29, 1951, she was united in marriage to Hilmer Ronning Jr. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Lisbon, N.D. , and they were blessed with three daughters.

Dolores was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, Lisbon Memorial Hospital, North Dakota Veterans Home where she retired in 1994 after 23 years of service, and the Beverly Anne Assisted Living Center. She was an active member of St. Aloysius Church, and volunteered for Hospice, St. Aloysius Catholic Church, and the Community Memorial Hospital.

Dolores was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She enjoyed the outdoors, knitting, sewing, cooking, and visiting with friends and family.  Hilmer and Dolores also enjoyed square dancing.  Dolores dedicated her last years caring for her husband at home.

She is survived by her husband, Hilmer (Maryhill Manor), Enderlin; three daughters, Mary Ann (Don) Morin, Sioux Falls, S.D., Catherine Ronning (Jim Ohnstad), Fargo, N.D., and Julie (Tom) Slagle, Lisbon, N.D.; six grandchildren, Matt (Melissa) Moellenkamp, Fargo, N.D., Josh Moellenkamp, Fargo, N.D., Jackie (Kevin) Freymiller, Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Benjie (Bobbiann) Froemke, West Fargo, N.D., Dannie Froemke, USMC, Camp Pendleton, Calif., MacKenzie (David) Scott, Brandon, S.D.; and two great-grandchildren, Luke and Jack Moellenkamp, Fargo, N.D.  She is also survived by three brothers, David Roach, Lisbon, N.D., Gerald (Sharon) Roach, Bismarck, N.D., and James (Googs) Roach, Lisbon, N.D., and many nieces and nephews.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 1, 2008 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Lisbon.  Interment at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.

Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, was in charge of arrangements.
