Football fever has taken over Lisbon High School with the arrival of Homecoming Week. The festivities start in both the Middle School and High School on Monday, which has been designated as “Color Day.” The fun continues through the week, with “Bad Hair Day” on Tuesday, “Wear Your Hobby Day” on Wednesday,  “Decades Day” on Thursday, and culminates with the traditional “Red and Gold Day” on Friday.

The high school student body voted on senior candidates for Homecoming King and Queen on Wednesday, September 17. The candidates for King, as selected through the election process, were: Dillon Bishop, son of Kevin and Janice Bishop, Kathryn; Chris Eppler, grandson of Janiece Baker, Lisbon; Josh Nims, son of Brad and Cindy Nims, Lisbon; and Elliott Olerud, son of Neil and Laurie Olerud, McLeod. Queen candidates included Ashley Berg, daughter of Gerald and Deb Berg, Lisbon; Kammy Larson, daughter of Todd and Peggy Larson, Milnor; and Taryn and Taylor Wagner, twin daughters of Marsha Bittner, Lisbon and Chad Wagner, Englevale. Another election will be held  this week, with the results determining who will be crowned 2008 Homecoming Queen and King.

A new event for homecoming week this year will be a Powderpuff Football Game, scheduled for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, the place to be announced. The game will pit a team of freshman and sophomore girls against a team of junior and senior girls. 

Friday, September 26 will be a busy day, with a Pep Rally beginning at 2 p.m. in the Lisbon Armory. The homecoming royalty will be introduced at the Pep Rally. A short biographical sketch of each candidate will be read and the candidates will be seated to reign over those festivities. Following the Pep Rally, a Homecoming Parade featuring the high school band, floats, and other entries. The parade will wend its way down Sixth Avenue West from the high school to Main Street. The route will continue a block down Main Street, turning up Fifth Avenue to return to the school. 

Homecoming festivities will climax on Friday evening, with the Lisbon Broncos taking on the Enderlin/Maple Valley Falcons in the Homecoming Football Game. The game will be played at the field in Sandager Park, with the kick off scheduled for 7 p.m. 

At halftime, the Homecoming Royalty will be introduced and the royal couples will circle the field in golf carts. Following the halftime performance by the Lisbon High School Marching Band, under the direction of Mr. John Monilaws, the Homecoming King and Queen will be announced. After receiving their crown and robe, the Royal Couple will take a victory lap around the field. Following the football game, a Homecoming dance will be held at the armory from 9 p.m. to 12 midnight.
