Lisbon’s No Name Players will close their 2008 season at the Lisbon Opera House with four hilarious performances of “The Last Gladiator.” This play will be performed from Thursday, Oct. 9 through Sunday, Oct. 12.
This two-act comedy by Martin Follose, that takes place in ancient Rome, involves all sorts of intrigue along with the usual attempt to get the emperor’s daughter to marry someone she doesn’t want. The result is side-splitting action that is fun for the entire family.
Chuck Long does double duty by both directing and acting this time around.
Other veteran No Name Players in this play include Josh Hinkemeyer, Darline Levang, Tanya Birklid, Lynsee Langsdon, Kathryn Smith, Mike Dick, Kieran Hall, Connie Radcliffe, Carmen Ross, Kathy Wiltse, Nicole Smith, Lance Gulleson, and Brad Ellingson. Carla Huether is the one newcomer to the opera house stage for this play and No Name Junior player Tyus Calloway and Daniel Sagvold will also appear as extras.
The Thursday and Saturday performances have a 7:30 p.m. curtain time and the Sunday performance is a 2:30 p.m. matinee. In addition to the play, Friday evening’s event starts with a dinner theater catered by The Stake Out.
Dinner will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. with the curtain going up on the play at 7:30.
Advance tickets are available at Sheyenne Valley Drug, Ho-den-attes, The Ransom County Gazette Office and Lisbon Pharmacy, all in Lisbon or by calling 701-683-5119. If any tickets remain, they will be available at the door prior to the performances.
All proceeds from the play go toward rehabilitation of the Opera House building. The theater was made handicap accessible with the addition of an elevator in 2006.
