Locally, the economy is stable and the outlook is positive for this
year. This area depends largely on what agriculture is doing and the crops were good this year.
“We are very fortunate to live in this region of the country because the Ag economy is strong and the overall economy is good, “ said Wes Well, president, Bremer Bank. “We are somewhat isolated from (the national scene), he added. Read the rest of this entry »

Pictured above is the Mizpah Lodge Building in Sheldon as it appeared shortly after its completion in 1905.
by Janet Hansen
The brightly colored sign which was hung last spring on the former Mel’s Country Grocery building in Sheldon labels the building as the home of the Save The Hens Foundation as well as the Sheldon Community Center.
To those visiting Sheldon for the first time, the sign may pose more questions than answers. However, a tour of the building with local historian Alice Marie Krueger will quickly put those questions to rest.
The restoration of the building, which has taken place over the past couple of years, has transformed the building into a frequently used community center. The building serves as a meeting place for the Sheyenne Braves 4-H Club, the Sheldon American Legion and its Auxiliary, and the Sheldon Lions Club. It also serves as the Sheldon Senior Citizen Center and is available for meetings of the Sheldon City Council. In addition to the regular events, the building is often rented by members of the community for such occasions as birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, and graduations. Read the rest of this entry »
