The Ransom County Relay for Life Committee is looking for volunteers for this spring’s Relay which is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 3-4 at the Expo Center in Lisbon.
The first Team Captain meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lisbon Eagles Club. Anyone interested in finding out more about the Relay for Life Committee is welcome to come to the committee meeting, which precedes the team captain meeting at 5:30 p.m.
For the past few years, the event has been held in the Expo building with a walking track that weaves in and out of the building. ”We have heard positive comments about this location from both the participants and the community,” states Heather Sagvold, Relay for Life Chairperson. “The set up and tear down process has been simplified with the ability to set up campsites on the Thursday evening before the event. The tear down, for the last three years, has been done by 8 a.m. the next morning. Not only has the location saved the teams a lot of time, but we are able to provide tables and chairs for participants as well. Another plus is that nothing is wet with dew in the morning as it was when the event was held outside at the Lisbon Track Complex!
Please consider volunteering for this year’s Relay for Life fundraiser event. By doing so, you can: make a meaningful difference in your community; help cancer patients and their families; have flexible options and opportunities that fit your schedule; and build relationships and networks that last a lifetime
“Cancer has affected each and everyone of us in some way,” states Sagvold. “Cancer doesn’t care about your age, social status, where you work, how much money you have, or who your friends are.  Please join us this year and have a team. Lets get together and KICK CANCERS IN THE BUTT!”
