*Kindred won the Central Cass boys golf tournament on Apr. 26. The Kindred boys and girls golf squads appear to be the class of the east.
*The Hazen boy and girls golf squads won their own invitational tournaments. Enderlin High School graduate, Darrell Berglund continues to coach the boys squad even though he is now retired from teaching. Read the rest of this entry »

Karen Isabel Newton, 69, of Bella Vista, AR passed away on Apr. 30, 2011. She was born Sept. 7, 1941 to Arthur and Isabel (Howey) Jensen in Lisbon.
She attended school in Lisbon and graduated from Lisbon High School.
In 1959 she married Harry Leslie Newton at the First Methodist Church in Lisbon. Shortly thereafter they moved to Fargo and remained there for two years while her husband attended NDSU to complete a degree in pharmacy. They also welcomed the birth of their first child. They moved to Morris, MN until 1965. When they moved to Detroit Lakes, they completed their family, and settled there for 44 years. In 2009 they moved to Bella Vista, AR where they retired. Funeral services for Franklin H. Stahlecker, 89, North Dakota Veterans Home, Lisbon, were held May 7, 2011 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Lisbon. Mr. Stahlecker passed away on Apr. 30, 2011.
Franklin H. Stahlecker, son of Otto E. and Ella (Gremmert) Stahlecker, was born Sept. 10, 1921 in Delmont, SD. The family moved to Montana and lived in Coffee Creek and Harlowtown. Franklin graduated in June of 1940 from Harlowtown High School. When World War II broke out, he was inducted into the Army for five years. He served in the Aleutian Islands as a radio control operator for the Signal Corps and Ft. Monmouth, NJ Basic Military Training Company. After being discharged from the service, Franklin joined his parents on their farm. The family moved from Montana in 1945 to a farm north of Milnor. Read the rest of this entry »
