Lisbon Opera House is once again hosting the Missoula Children’s Theatre.  They will be in Lisbon Monday, July 11 through Saturday, July 16.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for 38 years from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,300 communities this year with up to 45 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. 

A tour team will arrive in Lisbon with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play, except the cast. The team will hold auditions and cast local students to perform in the production, The Princess and the Pea. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and two public performances are presented.

All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales. a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. Also included in the residency are three enrichment workshops presented by the Tour Actor/Directors. The three workshops being presented in Lisbon are Creative Dramatics, The Actor’s Tools, and Introduction to Mime. There will be one workshop each day, Tuesday, July 12, Wednesday, July 13 and Thursday, July 14 starting each day at 2:30 p.m.

Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project. MCT’s mission is the development of lifeskills in children through participation in the performing arts.

Auditions will be Monday, July 11 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Opera House for children in grades one through 12. The first rehearsal is right away Monday afternoon  The remaining rehearsal times will be 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily. Performances will be Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16 at 7 p.m. each night.
