N. Boatman

Neva Boatman, 89, left her earthly life on Apr. 2, 2012.  Her husband of seventy years, Charles was at her side at the time of her death.  Charles and Neva’s sons, Roger and Jim, and daughter Mary, shared the precious last days with their mother.

In November 2011, Charles and Neva moved from the Beverly Ann of Lisbon to the Ava Marie Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Neva Caroline Boatman was born at the family home in rural Lisbon on Apr. 18, 1922.   She was the daughter of William and Hattie (Redman) Heaton.

She graduated from Lisbon High School.  She taught at Shenford Township School for seven years. She worked at the JC Penney Store in Lisbon for twenty years.

Neva was an Eastern Star Member.  She was the Past Matron of Eastern Star and Grand Esther.  She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of the Lisbon Study Club. Charles and Neva were members of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Lisbon.

Charles and Neva Boatman were united in marriage on Feb. 10, 1942.  They were married in Walla Walla, WA. Charles and Neva were blessed with son, C. Roger Boatman (Phyllis) of Lake Park, MN son, James (Linda) of Jamestown, and daughter Mary Opland, (David) of Hudson, WI.

Charles and Neva are the grandparents of seven grandchildren:  Jon and Jay Boatman, Mark Boatman and Becky (Boatman) Faller,  Dawn, Denise, and Christian Opland.  Sabrina and Summer Boatman, daughters of Jay and Lisa,  are great-granddaughters.

Neva’s parents, brother Glenn Heaton, sister Fay Heaton preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; brother Kent Heaton and wife Marilyn, of Oregon City, OR; sister Ila and husband, Kenny DeKrey of Valley City.

Neva Boatman’s celebration of life was held Friday, Apr. 6, at in Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisbon. Pastor Norm Anderson officiated.

Pallbearers for the funeral were Jon and Jay Boatman, Mark Boatman, Becky Faller, Dawn, Denise and Christian Opland.

Music was provided by organist Jan Hansen and soloist Joan Montgomery.

Internment at the Lakeside Cemetery in Milnor.

Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon was in charge of arrangements.
